Worth knowing before you buy
These systems filter the water at one tap — usually the kitchen sink — not your whole home.
Only the 5-Stage Ultra-Filter is designed to reduce bacteria and parasites, and its membrane rating is nominal — on water you don't trust microbiologically it belongs after proper disinfection, not in place of it. The 2-stage and 3-stage units focus on sediment, chlorine, taste and odour.
The Direct Fit model operates safely up to 6 bar, but if your home's water pressure is above 4.5 bar you should fit a pressure regulator first.
Keeping it running
Replace each cartridge at its stated time or litre limit, whichever comes first. For most of these systems that works out to every 3 to 6 months. And because they use standard 10-inch filters, replacements are easy to find and fit.
